Part L:
Payment of Awards and Financial Provisions

Part L deals with questions of liability (Rule L1), the payment of awards (Rules L3 and L5), and ensures that there is no duplication of benefits (Rule L4).

Until 1 April 2006 Rule L2 dealt with the maintenance of accounts, but from that date each fire and rescue authority had to establish and maintain a Firefighters' Pension Fund. Consequently with effect from that date Rule L2 was deleted and a new Part LA was added to the FPS.

Also on 1 April 2006, injury provisions were transferred from the FPS to the Firefighters' Compensation Scheme and so references to injury awards were removed from the FPS.

For reference purposes the explanation of the rules as they applied before 1 April 2006 has been retained in this Part as "archived" material.
