This page is dedicated to the memory of the Firemen/Firefighters of Sheffield Fire Brigade, the Auxiliary Fire Service, the National Fire Service, South Yorkshire County Fire Service and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue who have lost their lives whilst on duty.

Dedication is also made to the numerous members of the service who have been seriously injured on duty.

Inspector Archie Cornish

Archie Cornish
Inspector - Sheffield Fire Brigade.
He suffered severe burns on the 11th November, 1930, from a 'flash-over' fire caused by burning celluloid X-ray plates, in the basement of the Royal Hospital.
He died as a result of his injuries on the 18th of February 1931.

Fireman Auxiliary Fire Service, age 60, of 4 Morley Street, Parkgate, Rawmarsh. Died 19th of August 1940, during an air aid on the British Oxygen Works on Armer Street, Rotherham.

He died on 12th December 1940, at Union Street during an air raid.

He died December 14th 1940, at the Royal Hospital.

, 42 years of age. He was injured at fire on 29th December 1942: He died on 11th August 1943 at Sheffield Hospital from smoke inhalation.

Leonard Harrison
Leading Fireman - National Fire Service
, 31 years of age. He died in a minefield while on transfer to Cullercoats near Newcastle. On 13th April 1944, he and his crew were called to a moorland fire where one of them trod on a mine which killed the entire crew. The moorland had been used as an ammunition dump, and unknown to them had been mined.

, 42 years of age. He died in appliance crash Hastilar Road/Prince of Wales Road, whilst proceeding to a fire on 25th April 1944.

, 40 years of age. He was injured in appliance crash Hastilar Road/Prince of Wales Road, whilst proceeding to a fire on 25th April 1944.
He died on 26th April 1944 at Royal Hospital.

He died on 2nd January 1945.

He fell during the rescue of a cat from a tree, June 28th, 1950, and died of his injuries at the scene.

, 28 years of age. He was seriously injured in an explosion and fire at the Little Mermaid Cafe', Norfolk Street, 7th August, 1968
He died of his injuries on 15th August at the Royal Hospital.

He was seriously injured on 25th February 1974 in an explosion at the British Steel Corporation, Shepcote Lane, when molten metal came in contact with firefighting water.
He died of his injuries on 28th February 1974 at the Northern General Hospital.

He was seriously injured on 25th February 1974 in an explosion at the British Steel Corporation, Shepcote Lane, when molten metal came in contact with firefighting water.
He died of his injuries on 10th March 1974 at the Northern General Hospital.
